      Your skin is elastic and can lose its elasticity with age.

      Also, your fat is mostly held below the skin and the fibres holding this in place become less strong as you get older. There are fat pads in your face which hang lower as you get older (e.g. ‘jowls’ in older people), as well as fat around you arms, legs and tummy.
