We are repulsed from rotten food so that we don’t eat it and get ill. If you think eggs smell bad, that’s because part of you thinks that you shouldn’t eat them.

You’ve evolved a very clever mechanism to detect stuff that’s bad for you. Food that has decayed and will cause you to become sick smells bad because your body knows that you’ll be unwell if you eat it.
