      In their evolutionary history, they relied partly upon hearing for hunting (more so than we did). As a result, they have bigger ears that direct sound into their ear canal more effectively (and can swivel!). They probably have a longer cochlear too, which is tube full of cells in that respond to different frequencies: low pitched at one end and high pitched at the other.
