• Question: What is the Big Bang theory?

      It has been observed that all of the stars and galaxies that we can see seem to be moving away from us and the further away they are, the faster they seem to be going. This would be the case if us and them were all on the surface of an expanding sphere. If we go back in time, the sphere gets smaller until all of the universe is at a single point – this time we think of as the big bang – just as it all exploded out of that point.

      Yup. It’s an idea that Astronomers have to explain the fact that all the stars in the universe seem to be moving away from each other (and us).
