Question: Is it true that crying when you're upset or very happy baffles scientists?

When people cry, I just feel slightly awkward, rather than baffled. The scientific explaination is probably along the lines of feining illness to gain sympathy and attention of other people in a group – but clearly this was a necessary evolutionary step otherwise we wouldn’t do it (along with being able to smile, blush or frown)
