• Question: if gravity pulles you down to earth, how do trees grow up?

      They push against gravity, a little bit at a time. For this reason, they grow from the top, rather than pushing up from underneath – that way it is a bit putting blocks on top of a tower, you only have to lift a little bit at a time.

      They also grow down (their roots).
