0 Question: if gravity pulles you down to earth, how do trees grow up? Keywords: gravity, grow, tree Asked by calvis to Mike, Pip, Tianfu, Tim, Tom on 28 Jun 2012.
Tom Lister answered on 28 Jun 2012:
They push against gravity, a little bit at a time. For this reason, they grow from the top, rather than pushing up from underneath – that way it is a bit putting blocks on top of a tower, you only have to lift a little bit at a time.
They also grow down (their roots).
