I’ve never had either, so I can’t tell you for sure. I have accidentally put my hand in a powerful laser beam, and that feels like being jabbed by a pin.

A tattoo is drawn on using a needle that pricks your skin and injects a bit of ink – about 5 times a second or so. So it feels like somebody scratching at you with a sewing needle.
The laser treatment to remove it causes sensation through heating within the skin, and is like being poked lots of times with a hot compass – apparently this is a bit more painful than getting a tattoo.
Pain is a funny thing though, and doesn’t ‘hurt’ as much if you want it to be happening.

I’ve bee told that having a tattoo hurts but the tattoo removal procedure hurts even more?! And also, sometimes the tattoo removal doesn’t work and it damages your skin.
Having said that some people don’t think that getting a tattoo hurts at all! It depends on who you are…

My sister, a tattoo artist, said that it isn’t that painful to have them done. Apparently its just like a scratch on your skin. She hasn’t had any removed though.

Yeah, I’ve heard that the pain depends on where you get the tattoo.

i don’t really know, but i watched a program about tattoos being done, and a guy said it hurt quite a lot
