Some of the sweeteners might not be so good for you, but I think the main ingredient is caffeine. This can promote the production of stress hormones, keeping you awake and alert, but also having other effects.
I think energy drinks as a habit are a bad idea, but it may be difficult to see any effects from the odd one.
