• Question: Are there concerns that laser research could be used to develop weapons of war?

      I am concerned about that, but fortunately I think they make pretty rubbish weapons.

      I’m pretty sure that there’s a UN convention to prevent people developing weapons to dazzle enemy soldiers. The Americans are (or were) trying to use lasers to shoot down enemy missiles, and of course there’s all sorts of laser-guided weapons already being used. Pretty depressing really.

      As far as I know there are quite a lot departments want to investigate laser as weapon. Unfortunately, they are not as good as we suppose.
