• Question: why do we have favourite foods?

      I’ve no idea. I think that there must be some foods that appeal to our particular taste, memory and upbringing. What’s your favourite?

      We do crave things that our body needs (like certain nutrients that we are short of) or thinks it needs (like high fat foods and salt, which through our evolution were hard to get hold of).

      Tim is right though (of course) that we must have certain memories of foods tht influence our favourite, and it can form a small part of our identity…
