0 Question: What metal element has the highest melting point? Keywords: element, highest, melting, metal, point Asked by xenon to Mike, Pip, Tianfu, Tim, Tom on 3 Jul 2012.
Tim Stephens answered on 3 Jul 2012:
I’d need to google to find this out. What do you think it is?
Tom Lister answered on 3 Jul 2012:
Molybdenum and Tungsten are used in machines that get hot (tungsten is used in light bulbs). There is probably an element better than that though…
Tim commented on 5 Jul 2012:
The awesome periodic table at ptable.com tells me that the highest melting point is Carbon, which is only a tiny bit ahead of Tungsten.

Should have guessed really, as carbon has about the strongest molecular bonds – it’s not a metal though, unless you are an astrophysicist…
