It is something I think about.
I used to Joke that the work I did could ether be used as a death-ray or a cure for cancer.
If fact, some of the people I work with, have done or do, work for AWE who make and maintain the UK’s nuclear weapons. So they if fact do.
However their job is similar to being a solider in her majesty armed forces. So in a way that makes it ok.
I personally reason it would be best for our government to have access to it. As we can vote for people who won’t use it. And know how to stop it if someone else did.
There is also a big difference between knowing how to build something that could destroy the world and building it.
One thing is for certain though. Weather our goverment research it or not people will discover it eventually anyway.
For my own part I don’t think my research can really be used as a death ray, or at least there are cheaper and easier way to kill people that we already have.
However I am certain it can be used to help cure cancers. So this I feel makes it alright.
These are my ethical views on the matter, you should make your own dission on things like this. Obay the laws of this country and if you disagree with the laws vote, and join a political party, to have them changed.
{—————————— Just so you know, I’m dyslexic, so occasionally I’m going to spell words the wrong way. Mainly because it’s faster not to properly spell check the answers I’m writing to you. Also because it’s more fun this way, and just so you know it doesn’t stop you from doing awesome science. It may also make any English teachers present faint which could be an added bonus.
