      A flavanoid is a type biological molecule that is found in a wide variety of plants for a huge number of reasons, such as giving the petals their colour (there are about 5000 flavanoids discovered so far). A pyran is a five-membered carbon ring with an oxygen replacing one of the carbons. So it’s a flavanoid with a pyran attached to it.
